Khidor Mustafa Daghir Oud Reborn Story Sound File

Hi there,

here is as promised a mp3 soundfile of the freshly reborn Khidor Mustafa Daghir Oud (see http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=8290 ).

The strings are one day old (Daniel Mari)

The recording went through MBHO OSS II (Mikrofonbau Haun Obrigheim) border surface microphone array that is combining the border surface technology with a Jecklin disk. Very nice for live recordings, you put it on the ground and get really nice sound.

the mic was 80-90 cm from the oud.

For convenience reasons I used a cheap little compact mixer by Behringer. The signal went straight into Zoom H2 line input.

(This little device is worth every single penny you pay for it)

Recording format was 16bit/44.1 kHz (CD format). The only change done was fade in, fade out and coding into mp3 (80kb/s cbr done in wavelab 4).

So it's an honest recording (as honest as a recording can be).

If you like, please give me some feddback what you think about the sound...

best wishes

Robert

Needless to say that the MP3 at 80kb/s is quite flat compared to CD quality.

BTW, I have been recording lute, guitar and other accoustical ensembles for a while (including Anthony Bails, who is probabely very well known among people interested in western lute music).

If you need some recording advice, don't hesotate to contact me. If I can I'll answer.

best wishes
Robert

Lovely sound and playing Robert, well done, I like your style and touch. I came across this little gem while doing a search for Mari oud strings. I cannot believe no has commented on your sound clip. Thankyou, and also, I think I will now definately try those Mari strings aswell. C
