Places for oud concerts in Cairo

Hi forum members,
as I'll be heading for Cairo soon, I'd like to see if anyone here can recommend places to see oud players in concert?
And what are the top oud players in Cairo?
Cheers,
R.

Cheers,
Roland

Try the Culture Wheel (at the north-eastern tip of Zamalek island)
http://culturewheel.com/sections/calendar/calendar?year=2008&mo...

Also, the Cairo Opera House (southern end of Zamalek island) is hosting the 17th Arab Music Festival Nov. 1-10. I haven't found a detailed schedule for this year yet, though.

Also see the Cairo Live Events Guide:

Beit al-Oud is located in Beit al-Harawi, near the Khan al Khalili market and Al Azhar mosque:

Have a great trip!

I'm now back.... incredible trip! Went to the Arab Oud House, beautiful building in one of the rare quiet areas in Cairo ;-) ... no oud players were there though, the hammered dulcimer students were in that day (don't know the exact name of that instrument).
Egypt is the experience of a lifetime!

Welcome back - glad you had a good trip!

So... did you find any oud players (or ouds)?

Never found any---- I was mainly traveling around, so never too long in one place.
Found a good player in a village somewhere between Luxor and Aswan - he played Nubian music and came to the Dahabeya we were traveling on (sailboat). It was a great experience. And the crew on the ship played and sang Nubian songs... incredibly joyful.
I would really love to hook up with Cairo/Egyptian oud players for my next trip though....

Cheers,
Roland
