Advise on this Oud


I am trying to buy a used Oud and this private seller is asking $550.00 for this Oud. Is it one of those tourist Ouds?
I was tols that the back has an inlaid mosaic.

Yes, this is clearly a tourist oud! Especially the poor craftsmanship on the peg box. That oud is not worth that much money. The "inlay" is also not mother-of-pearl or anything special, it is going to be a cheap imitation.

I'm not able to give a serious opinion about the egyptian "standard" oud on the link, but the case in which it's sold doesn't protect better than a thin soft case. These "hardcases" are not rigid at all and there is no pad inside to keep the oud in a secure position......
Maybe we can believe that an instrument sold in such a case doesn't worth to be protect as a good one?
