Both wonderful videos guys, I really enjoy both of these players very much.
Being connected to players throughout the world through sites like this one, youtube, and others is really a great thing.
Not so long ago, there wasn't that much going on online and it could be very lonely for an oud player getting started somewhere where there wasn't a
large, local community of players. Even in New York, there aren't that many people who play this specific flavor of Near Eastern music. I think it's
been almost a year since I had someone here to even rehearse some Ottoman music with.
So, it's just great that we can all be one community and learn and be inspired by so many artists, both players and makers, if not in person, then at
least online.

Not so many players in New York, so I let you imagine in a small town of south west France.
I first learned oud with a teacher, but in Cairo. Since this time, when coming back to France, internet has been a great ressource for inspiration,
both in way of interpretation and discovering new pieces.
Thank you for this taksim, I loved it, very talented ud player also.

Thanks for your reply, and the video. Yurdal's touch and sensibility are really something. We often get caught up in his amazing technique and
speed, so I think sometimes we don't give enough credit to his emotional and thoughtful expression. This video was a really great example of just
about everything he can do so well.
And I know how you feel, definitely, being in a small town. I left a small town to come to New York, and still, there are only a handful of musicians
to work with and learn from. It's great that the online community is so large and growing.
Anyway, enough talking...thanks again for the video's.

I am very sensitive to the sens of playing of Yurdal Tokcan.
I heard about master classes for turkish music an organisation was making in Turkey. I remind he was teaching in one of those sessions. But I can't
find back the name of this organisation.
Did you heard also about and know if they still organize such master classes?

i saw yurdal perform recently in turkey during a performance with my teacher, necati celik...he has a singular talent with his left hand, his
ornamentations are breathtaking.
your cds sound great, by the way, and i am happy to see that tulumba.com has picked them up and included them with so many other great albums of the
genre. nice work.

Fantastic music. I know how you feel Mav, it is like that for me here. I have to say though there is a great oud community developing across the UK
and we are trying to get it together again soon. People playing this near Eastern style seem to be rare though ... we have some great arabic, Iraqi
and North African players, but I've not come across any of this (Armenian, Turkish Greek) style which is my own main influence, so I do feel a bit
lost and exotic  sometimes as for advice, playing tips, and just sharing space
with.
These clips are invaluable for this reason - I love them all

Amos, it's nice to hear that you are learning from Necati Celik, you will now have a combination of two very different but complimentary styles in
your playing. Thanks for your compliments on my CD's, I appreciate it.
I enjoyed everyone's clips a lot. It's really astonishing how many quality videos are on youtube - there is always something you haven't seen before,
which then leads you to even more videos and recordings...

thank you for the file, it provides me information about the program they propose and the budget to plan to get in it. I will make a research to find
back the name of this organisation and keep you in touch about if you are interested in it.
I took a look to your websites also, great files you put for the studying of turkish makam, and they keep me looking forward for your oud method
books. Good luck for this work.
I learn a lot from recordings, by the way Necati Celik is also another great player to study on, but I really miss some theorical information and
studies for makam and taksim.
