How do u tell if yr oud is turkish or arabic
i wanna know my dad bought this oud for me in israel but he forgot if it was a arabic or turkish so if someone can tell me i will aprictiate it

Oudplayer, perhaps you can post a photo of your oud. It may have some distinct qualities that some people here will be able to distinguish.

Hi. Mabrouk on the new oud!

If the string length from the nut to the bridge is around 57 cm, then it's probably Turkish. If it's longer, around 61 cm, then it's probably Arabic. The Iraqi/Bashir ouds are usually closer in length to a Turkish oud, but they are very distinctive, with oval soundholes usually and a floating (movable) bridge.
