Afghan Rabab, Uzbek Rabab and Uzbek Tanbur For Sale

We have finally launched our small local ethnic instruments shop in Japan. We have several rather rare instruments for sale. I could not manage to get photos up here. So please email me and I can send you links to images. And feel free to ask any questions.

1. Afghan Rabab: This is a real Afghan Rabab and not an Indian or Punjabi made instrument. It was made by Afghan expats living on the boarder region with Pakistan. It is a standard 32" size made from Mullberry wood. 3 main strings, 2 long drones, 12 sympathetic strings. Nice inlay on the neck, body and playing board. Very nice sound.

Just got it in three months ago for our shop opening.
Asking JPY59,000 or USD590.00
We are in Japan but can safely ship just about anywhere. Shipping is your cost and will be the rate given by your choice of Parcel Post or EMS.

2. Uzbek Rabab: The Uzbek cousin of the Afghan Kabali Rabab. Is less boat like than the Afghan instrument. Wider but less long body. Heavier skin and longer neck. The neck also has fixed frets. Six strings, no sympathetics.

The sound is strong and deep. Similar to the Afghan instrument but with less natural reverb. Instead this instrument has a much wider melodic range and the power to sound out over Uzbek drums.

Asking JPY39,000 (USD$390) Shipping same as above.

3. Uzbek Tanbur: Another rare instrument. Long neck four string tanbur. Made of Mullberry and unfinished by the artisan to allow the wood to naturally vibrate. Has tied on frets that are raised to give a lot of expression. Nice inlay on the neck.

Like most Uzbek instruments the construction is a bit rough. But the sound is amazing. We call Uzbek Tanbur the Old Men in our collection, because they have a deep and experienced sound that plays best to sentimental or strong melodies.

Asking JPY39,000 or USD390

4. Persian Tanbur: This is a basic Persian Tanbur. Three strings, long neck lute with tied on gut frets. Made from Mullberry. Sounds and plays very well.

These are out there but hard to find. Often they are terrible tourist models. This instrument is a good basic model for learning to play. Comes with a very basic soft cover.

Asking JPY30,000

I'd be very interested in pics of the Uzbek rabab - I'm looking for a second, as I need to repair the one I have now.

Hello. Sorry to have taken a while to get photos ready. Long busy week in Japan.

Some updates. I have photos of each type of Rabab and decoration level available now. If you email me at just_1_yume@yahoo.com I will send you our price list and photos of examples of each level.

I have one instrument in stock. Others take about 30 days to make on custom order. We can adjust decoration between plain and top end decoration.

We are moving our little shop in late December so I am offering 5% off on all Central Asian instruments and 10% off all Turkish Baglama Saz and Persian instruments.

Cheers,

Tkoind
