There´s wonderfully large selection of Near and Middle East instruments at YouTube by the poster "LocutusBece". It looks like these are originally
made for TV (probably somebody here knows more) and all seem to follow the same model: somebody playing an instrument and telling about it (in
Turkish), and then a luthier making the instrument. Very interesting stuff, lots of instruments that at least I didn´t know to exists, and it´s
interesting to see how for example a tanbur looks inside (notice the lengthwise bar below the face - looks like a banjo coordinator rod but is not
adjustable):
