Is it SOMBAT or KAREBRET der Bedrousian?

Hello friends,

I need some help here. The original label of the Oud below was removed while fixing a a crack in the back of the Oud. The new label says: SOMBAT der Bedrousina 1947.

Could anyone tell if this oud was really made by SOMBAT der Bedrousina? Could it be made by his son kARBRET? What do you think?

I will post some photos. Thank you for your help!

thats what the label says....

But I dunno - that end block looks a bit Ali Khalihef factory work, their doing very creative effects lately. But I may be wrong - it does look old. Someone would have to recognise the label - looks a bit plain? and maybe there was an old one behind it....

Dear Melbourne,

Thank you.

Maybe i wasn't clear enough in my question and im sorry for that. It is an old Bedrousian Oud for sure. I have no doubt about that! I'm not sure if it was the father (Sombat) or the son (Karbret). The label you see in the photo is not original and that is why I'm asking.

Ah ok...no problem. It does say sombat on the lable, and the year is probably 1947, there is a string covering one number which is most lilkely a 4.

Regards;

Hi Nizar,

Looks like an old beautifll oud and indeed it does have some Bedrousian looks, from what I've seen on other Bedrousian ouds "never owned one by the way, I'd love to though:bounce:"

I think Nizar the most apropriate person to give you an honest inspection is Master luthier Nazih Ghadban, so may be if you can email him the photos youmay get a clear idea,

Best regards and enjoy this master piece while you can;)

Cheers,

Best Regards

Awad
