Hi All

Just wanting to firm up arrangements for UK meet.

Am I right in thinking that Dave H is willing to host in Oxford for 20th June. This would allow others interested to make a more central location? Us northerners are happy to share lifts, tents, shisha........... etc. and contribute to the festivities.

Lets make it happen

Best wishes to you all and and don't be shy.

I'm definitely still up for this. But I agree, things seem to have gone pretty quiet on this front.

Kelly, yes, it's all still on with me for 20th June.

Charlie, thanks for keeping the momentum going.

Leon, I had an email from the man from del monte. He said yes. Now I have to get hold of some pineapples. He said he was inviting Michael Mussa as well, which is great news.

Nice one Dave

Should be no probs with the pineapples. I hope Michael can make it too. Just dial up the weather and we're sorted

It's now approaching mid-May! June 20th is not so far off and this thread has gone very quiet. Is this event happening?

Michael, thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to revive the thread but a bit snowed under. Yes, as far as I'm concerned it's still on. These are the people who are signed up as far as I know.

Charlie
Awad and (possibly) his Oxford-Kordofan Rhythm Kings
Kelly
Leon
Michael
Owain (possibly - Owain, your father is also welcome of course)
Matthew (possibly)

Anyone else?

Thanks to a new stud wall, we now have two spare bedrooms plus a living room and couch, so there's a fair bit of room for those who want to stay over, but some may need to bring bedding. Tents are also an option.

If people want to bring some food, obviously that's an option but I might get the local lebanese restaurant to bring us some food for the evening too.

I have the email addresses of all the people above and maybe the best thing is if you confirm you're still coming and I send a circular email, then we can talk details off the forums, but if anyone else wants in, just leave a message on the forums or send me a PM and I'll put you in the loop. All welcome.

On the issue of getting a pro oudist, we decided not this time, but Nizar Rohana is still willing and able and in Europe till Early August. As discussing this in June might make it too late, I think I'll start another thread just to sound out if enough people are interested.

Yup, I'm still intending on attending (if that is'nt too many "tendings")!!

Liking the idea of Lebanese food too!

If you're ever in central Bath and feeling hungry there's a very good Lebanese restaurant called Arabesque in the Podium Shopping Centre - try their all-you-can-eat buffet lunch.

Thanks Michael - I quite often pass by Bath so will try that. I lived in Bris'l for 5 years by the way. I vote west country for the next oud meet, but I'm getting ahead of myself again!

If we're thinking ahead how about making a West Country event an all weekend thing and renting a camping barn or something? Maybe summer '10? Quantocks, Exmoor, Dartmoor?!!!!

David and the others, what time are we all expected roughly to be in Oxford, 10 am, midday or later?

See you all soon

I was thinking early afternoon because people are coming from a ways away, but earlier is fine if you prefer - especially as you're only an hour away. Charlie's getting in about midday. Welcome whenever, but don't get up so early you exhaust yourselves for the evening session!
