Czardaz on Oud- Gypsy music on oud
Dear all,
I am posting my version of Czardaz on Oud, a music that I always loved and have been for many years trying it. Thanks for Fadel he reminds me of that
music when he posted Salem Abdel karim playing it recently.
It's not perfect in my hands; I hope seeing other players performing it in a better way.

Very nice Katakofta. Who was Vittorio Monti? I guess he composed classical music? Opera?

Monti was an Italian composer. The only famous piece he arranged is this one, Czardas, which is originally a gypsy folks.

Karo Hayrapetyan
The first time I heard this Czardas was a long time ago from an Armenian Violist Karo Hayrapetyan.

yep...they sound like lounga and I thing that loungas are derived from gypsy balkan music, not sure tho.

Her is Cardas a must for all musicians no matter if you play classical or rock :')

Notes at the beginning afterwards it's a matter of practice and fingers position. Then you develop your own Cardas..lol.. for example the Major part
of the piece I am playing it Rast and not Major on G.

This one: Rufat Hasanov & Elnare Mecidova - Cardas ; is teriffic. I don't know jack about Tar players, only heard a couple of Armenian ones when I
was a kid, and they didn't have technique like this by any means. This guy's a master, and Elnare is kicking it on piano as well. I'd love to hear
this fellow try his hand at bluegrass, that could be a trip. Thanks for the link.

I noticed  that was partially why I asked! Loved the touch.
I played it only from notes, and it was not that alive
also, a couple of time it sounded as if you are playing violin. Very nice!

Well, I mean that it seems to me that arabs don't take the oud that "siriously", if you know what I mean. I think that should come first!
I guess technique and playing with orchestra "go together".
In my opinion, and to my knowledge, Jamil Bashir was the only one who tried to go in that direction. But I don't think the arab listeners liked that
style (they only want "tarab"!). And the guy never become as famous as he should have been (this is my personal opinion).
P.S. now I am almost afraid of expressing my opinion in here ; )

Jameel was the disciple of Targan, the founder of the iraki oud school. Targan music repertoire is full of technically difficult pieces. Both Targan
and Jamil tried to write oud music to say that the instrument is similar to any other orchestral instrument and not for singing only. Apart from the
technique, many people didn't like that music because it's mainly on Major or minor scale and similar to orchestral music.
I guess that gypsy music is much more similar to our music, nice melodies and technically difficult which make it suitable to be feasible on oud and
could be a great source to improve our technical skills on the oud.

Just saw that. Glad you liked the rast ..llooll
I used to play it as it is, from notes, a la lettre, but as you know these pieces require lot of time to be controlled and well played. when you say
it sounds a couple of time like a violin it should be sounding like the violin all times to be well played
