I really enjoy....
This taksim is like a "promenade", sweet, quiet and full of subtle touch.
A great musician, for my opinion, with a very personal style.
What is the basic maqam, here?

Thanks for posting Fhydan!

I love that clip. That man is in control of his music.

I've really liked everything I've heard from George Michelle. Anyone know where recordings of him might be available?

I received the cd I ordered to cdbaby a few days ago.
I discovered some amazing takasims and tunes, with this particular great feeling heart in the youtube clips.
There is no comment about the recording year(s). Seems to be rather old ( may be sixties / seventies ) because of the material : a few tunes could be fields recording and the sound isn't masterised at all.
But I like these tunes very well and i'm happy to own this record.
I think that the ousd is tuned one tone lower than usual; most of tunes are played around e flat maqamat. Is this tuning a frequent one, or was ....May be it can be a recording result, but I don't think it is the case....
If someone here knows this cd, I would like to have his opinion.

Francis

Hi francis,

I have the cd but I haven't bent over to it yet... I discovered George Michel through Marcus Scott Lloyd thesis : George gave to Marcus some lessons in Cairo and we have some commentaries in his work.

Thanks fhydan for the video :)
