Ugh, what a strange world we live in [image]....


Obviously, as players of the Oud and Arabic music, we all embrace some element of the various cultures from which these traditions come. I could only imagine what it would be like to be the soldier in this photo.
If he wasnt holding the risha correctly i wouldn't have posted this...

I found this photo on google images 'oud interesting sound holes' - as i was looking for an oud similar to my first to try and see where it is from, since i cannot read the arabic on the label inside... i think the photo is originally from an article on slate.com "american soldier poses with etc etc"
i'm kind of a relentless researcher, so the image was on like page 38 or something crazy like that.
look at those wonderful little kids man. i cant wait until this mess is over, and maybe i can go there someday as an apoligetic american...

Great pic - lovely children.
That oud looks very similar in many ways to an old oud that I am currently restoring. Hard to say for sure, however, at this low resolution - just wishful thinking on my part perhaps.
Do you have more detailed images of the sound holes?
