birth of a new oud lover

Hello friends,
I'd just like to announce the birth of my daughter on April 17th, she doesn't have a first name yet but she loves listening to daddy play the oud! Here is a fun photo of our little family.
Last night was the debut performance of my electric oud in Nelson, BC with the Adham Sheikh collective. Video clip to come.
Light,
BJ

Question for Arabic/Hebrew/Farsi etc. speakers, and oudis:

Do you think Risha would be an appropriate girl's name? What is the exact meaning? Quill? Eagle's feather?

First of all.. congratulations!!! Best wishes :)

As for the name.. Risha is simply a feather.. the feather of any bird.

But that would be a very weird name for a girl.. being an Arab I've never heard of someone calling his daughter Risha. I would say it is not appropriate.. it is as if you were American and you name your girl Feather.. but to you Risha may be a nice name why not :)

Bravo et félicitations ( congratulations )!
To my opinion, Risha is a sweet idea to name a little girl ......I could have choose it .
But the choice must be a personal one......to assume it all life long....don't give a big place to the opinions around, choose what you love.....
And long and happy life for this new little girl......

Congratulations!!

So your oud is part of the family? :)

Here is my name suggestion: Oda (pronounced Ouda)
Oda is a "nice" old norwegian name (still in use of course).

P.s. I have a doughter myselv, and it is the most beautiful thing to have!

Wish you and your family all the best
