Does anyone know where I can pick some decent oud strings in Los Angeles? Preferebly on the west side. I tune my oud CFADGC.

Did you try Jameel's strings? http://www.khalafoud.com/

He sells Aquila low tension, D'addario, Pyramid, and Labella. Unless you wanna pick them up by yourself..

Thanks Reda, I am aware of Jameel's website. Unfortunately I want something in a rush and would like to pick it up.

There is a big store right across Guitar Center on Ventura Blvd. They have Oud strings but not variety. Good luck

Went to McCabe's and they only had La Bella turkish oud strings. The place on Ventura, Baxster, didn't have any. Called other places and no body seemed to have any.

You could check with either Viken Najarian or John Bilezikjian. They might have something suitable on hand; might be worth a try.

Good Luck...Paul

If you are still looking, I came across the persian music and film center. They had an oud in their front window. I am checking it out soon.

I already got some from a friend.

I pass by that persian place everyday. I have seen the oud and the baglamas. From a closer look, the oud didn't seem to be of high quality, though, the sound is the only thing that matters.

Let me know when you check it out.

I looked at it yesterday, It was a crap Oud. They were selling it there for $500, and it is on all of the cheap Oud sites (ethnicinstruments.com, instrumentalsavings.com, etc.) for $300.
Nevermind on that, but I am glad you got your strings. What brand are they? Do you like them? I will need to know, because I am getting my first high quality Oud soon. Also, are they Turkish or Arabic?
Thanks,

I imagined it would be of poor quality, just from the looks of it.

I ended up getting a La Bella turkish set and I am tuning it one step lower.

So far its pretty decent, slightly higher tension than my previous set (Pyramid). So far I like it. I will try to record something soon and post it.
