Oud nuts

This "Oud Nut" discovered something he would like to share with all the members of this forum:
Recently, I had to replace ALL the nuts in my ouds due to the poor quality of the bone & ebony nuts made anywhere in the Middle East.
I used acoustic guitar nuts.
The difference in the sound quality was rather obvious in a few cases.

Hi Hatem
Did you use a bone or a synthetic nut...? I'm really interested in your experience ...

you can still find some pre-ban ivory or fossilized walrus ivory on the net... Bob Colosi is a great resource for custom made guitar nuts and saddles as well as blanks ... http://www.guitarsaddles.com/
Cheers
