very interesting rib design


hi guys while i was surfing the net i found this very interesting turkish oud the rib design is truly amazing i ve never seen one like it before so i just wanted to share it with you and get your oppinions.

I think I can see how its done - there is a straight line down the centre of each wavy rib so a dark and light one together make up a conventional rib shape, then perhaps they were put together as a normal oud - but still given the two types of wood I bet they were tricky to curve. They look amazing and would take a great deal of skill.

Yes, as far as I can see, it is a normal oud with a maple bowl and the snakelike curves are an inlay. Very beautiful design!

Beautiful craftmanship, but somewhat psychedelic total look... wavy bowl and spiral neck pattern make my eyes squint! One or the other would have been enough! :rolleyes:
