New Fadi Matta Rosewood floating bridge
Hello
I would like to present a new work of Fadi Matta I just received last week.
A way for me to thanks this great maker and person.
Rosewood bowl, ebony fingerboard and keys, 58,5 stringlength.
Stringed with a custom pyramid set.
Here is 2 records I made with it, one more in the trebles, the other make more listen to the bass. ( Nasser Shamma works, especially for you,
Katakofka  )
Amateur work of course...so please excuse hesitations in the playing or false notes.

indeed I love a lot this sound, as you say Oud Freak, warmer and deeper.
I don't know the kind of rosewood it is exactly, I 'll ask Fadi next time I get in touch with him.
It is not the P10 set, I founded it too high tension in the trebles and desequilibrate.
I asked for a new custom set after some advices from Bassem Rizk.
Now it is tune as follow and I will try a change on the next set:
PVF F 0.44 (4.5 kg) -> NYL F 0.575 (4,53 kg)
PVF C 0.54 (3.8 kg) -> NYL C 0.725 (4.04 kg)
Wounded G 1006 (3.6kg) -> G 10065 (3.86)
D 1011 (3.5 kg) -> D 1111 (3.92 kg)
C 1014 (3.5 kg) -> C 1114 (3.87 kg)
F 1029 (4.1 kg) -> F 1030 (4.26 kg)

If you play with low action, adjust the action to be the lowest, do you hear a buzz from the G 1006? when you play the A note or B flat on the G
string would you hear a buzz?
I used to use the 1006 but I don't remember why I stopped using it...probably because of the buzz since I like to make the action very low while
playing

I first adjust the action to be the lowest...there was a terrible buzzing of the first course, PVF F and a bit less from the 2nd and 3rd course, with
a lack of volume of the instrument.
So I put the action a bit higher, the result is perfect without buzzing, 3mm at the neck/body joint moreover much more volume of the oud.
Didn't you stop using the 1006 because it has a very short lifetime also regarding to a nylon course ?

I've tried NYL0.019w (wound) from daddario...It needs to increase the action to avoid buzzing. The 1006 was the best wound string I've ever tried.
Actually I stopped ordering pyramid lute since they are expensive and durability isn't that good.
I am now using a PVF from savarez for a G with low action and no buzzing
It's a compromise, or going too low in action and using a nylon or PVF string or as you did increasing a bit the action and using a wound G.
G strings are pain in the A....to get a good one

also, I don't use a PVF for an F strings..you are right it makes buzzing...I am using a daddario 0.022 or 0.021 inch. For the cc, 0.024 (0.6mm) PVF
from savarez works well. You need to increase the diameter of the string to avoid buzzing.

I have discover by the try...now I know why most player use nylon for the F. So I guess I may lower the action then.
Then it's a matter of taste...mine are not so clear, and need more oud experience to really know which kind of tuning and stringing I prefer.
I will try also the Labella set in F on the Belhaiba a friend is lending me.
Less tension but for a sound I also like...but just to play other kind of piece on it.

I found the same thing, I only got 2 months from the 1006 wound strings! Also I found them not so good for sliding with the fingernail.
By the way, beautiful oud, looks, sound, and playing, enjoy in good health

nice instrument, great sound too -- i like the depth and warmth of it as some of pointed out --- comes out like an Iraqi oud with some Turkish
elements, nice tone.
im going to be in France in October, is Fadi located there?

I have one of Fadi's ouds too. The action has gotten so low on it that I cannot play it. Probably because of the change in the weather since I
received it. I do not know which way to turn the screws to adjust the neck to raise the action. Also, either way I turn to adjust it stops and I
don't want to force anything. Can anyone give me adivse on this? I have a 7 course.

I'll try to be as clear as I can...
First turn the up screw, the one nearest of the nut --> the system is unblocked, now you can adjust the action.
If the screw is hard to turn, but the oud on his face, take a tissue for a hang on the screw and slightly turn in the direction from trebles strings
to bass strings....keep parallel to the fingerboard plan while turning the screw, don't force to much downward and the screw will turn.
Once the system is unblocked, turn the second screw in the same direction, and adjust the action, helping with your hand on the head block to give the
right direction: to the face to raise action, to the bowl to make it smaller.
Once the action is right, keep the position of the neck helping of your hand, turn the second screw from bass to trebles to block the action, and the
first scew to block the system.
Don't know if I'm clear...but hope this will help you.
I also untune a bit the oud before doing it., to decrease string tension...using high tension I'm afraid to break the neck junction while doing it.
Not sure it is really necessary. I don't remind Fadi told me to do so for an usual tension set.
