I'm not sure of anything right now, I play mostly by ear, and just amazed at how far off ET the right-sounding notes are. If the oud plays solo, its quite easy to compensate by ear. If you use more than one instrument, it's more difficult. I have so many tunings in use right now, on samplers, physical instruments, etc, I'm not going to bother figuring it out for a moment, just play.

That's a good idea. The fingered notes are definitely not ET, my point was just that ET is not a bad tuning for the open strings.
