He's an Iraqi oud master living in the US, as far as I remember.

Some days ago I found this studio session by chance.

I like it very much, hope you too.

PS: One more.

Shure it is ... Naseer and Rahim belong to the world's best oud players, Carlos is a great Flamenco guitarist and Ashraf is a sitar master.

Youtube has several videos of every mentioned artist.

Whoever has a chance to go to Montreal shouldn't miss this concert.

I guess it's a marketing thing, I love oud; anything played on oud is better than not. But I view Nasseer Shamma with suspicion, like a country boy looking at Isaac Stern and thinking "why can't he just play that fiddle like everybody else?" Nasseer should maybe just get himself a Telecaster and some checkered pants. Now if Nasseer were straying towards Nashville riffs, I'd understand. There's a plenty of pickin' and grinnin' to be had there. But to make things worse, personally I just don't like flamenco guitar, I don't care if it shares a lot with North Africa, they don't share enough for my taste. It strikes me that 12 bar blues in A has infinitely more variety and a bigger inventory of chords than all of flamenco put together. The classical guitar sounds to me like a mass-produced lacquered oud with all plain nylon strings and frets. And even thinking about sitar playing makes me yawn. It's not true there's a raga for each time of day. All ragas are recumbant, most safely enjoyed in your pyajmas, like warm milk and a bad novel. I was going to say more, and then decided it was better not to. Enough sacrilege.

Of course it's worth going to a concert like this, there could even be a big barroom brawl, like in the westerns. :D

Because then he wouldn't be famous :D

Hey, will I get famous too, when I do the same string tapping trick in my first videos? I bet not, but why? ;)

Just go to the concert and shout "Oud! Oud! Oud!"

I think you will love it. Take a look at Naseer Shamma and Rahim Alhaj on Youtube. TWO oud masters!

I have already seen Nasser many times.
My school is the old school ! I dont like to make the technique better than the melody itself.

Well, Rahim Alhaj works among the World Music types, but he's a true Iraqi oud player and a modest man.
