oud makers in Baghdad?

Does anybody know if there are still good oudmakers in Baghdad?

If I still remember well, Dhafer Youssif (from Tunis) told me that his oud was made by Fadel (son).

And I played his oud... and it sounds wanderful.

Yes, Faik Fadel, and also there is Fouad Jihad's son Laith, I have one of his ouds and LOVE it!

I spoke to Faik himself yesterday.

He makes two types a floating and fixed bridge. Both are shown on his web site. He sells the fixed bridge one for US$1500 plus $200-300 shipping.

Iraq is full with the best oud makers like:

Mohmad fadel sons
Foad Jihad sons
Najim Aboud
Qasim alnaqash
Alabdale

You can find them in Karada district, or salhiya or souq alsaraya

I have an oud by his son Haidar, but he is no longer in Iraq and unfortunately no longer making ouds.

but that does not mean you cant find his ouds in the market espically in iraq !!!

They are very good ouds, and worth looking for, mine is like a M.Fadel, with the curved soundboard and shallow back.
