Greetings,
Does anyone have the sheet music for "Ifrah Ya Qalbi"? I can play most of the song, but struggle with the first section of the (earlier) verses,
which seem to have some kind of poly-rhythm going on in the melody. I am working on a version of this song with a singer, but need to get a handle on
the rhythm of the melody, so we can coordinate the ensemble. (I know the opening phrases of the later verses of the song are drawn out, mawwal-style,
and we can handle that!)
Here is the original movie clip from Umm Kulthum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M137JaeQuAA
If you are curious about the version we are working on, here are two recordings: http://www.piyut.org.il/tradition/1911.html?currPerformance=2493 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht76Qr6mz6c
If someone out there has it but wants to arrange a trade rather than gift me the sheet, I am amenable.
Thanks and advance!
Peace out,
"Udi" John

Merci, Zou!
It's always interesting to see multiple versions!
When I find time, I want to make and post a transcription of Karim Mahmoud's "Amana Alaik."
All the best,
