Hi oudies 
in this video, Omar Bashir plays a oud with the deepest string below the highest.Did he always do this?
I`ve never seen, or never noticed, this stringing before.
Anybody here strings his oud like this, and if, what is it good for?

That is the style of the Iraqi Bashir family. I believe Abd al-Aziz Bashir, Jamil Bashir, and Munir Bashir all had the lowest string right below the
highest string. It makes for a convenient location when you're playing a scale and you get to the last note, say, on the cc or ff course, and you can
play the bass string immediately after.
