Hey everyone.

Im a new here, and Id like to introduce myself.

Im 20 years old, doing university, and living in Toronto.

I just got my first oud, as of now I dont have time to take lesson and cant find a teacher., for sure i'll start lessons with a professional in the summer, but I would like to learn by myself at home, instead of wait till June. any advice on how to start.?

btw keep in mind I have no background in music at all. and I tried to learn from the videos on this great site, but everythig was flying right over my head. especially when it comes to the left hand... My oud has 9 stings which is wierd seeing as how its suppose to have 10 or 11? i bought new aquila strings for it, but i dunno how to put them on or how to tune it.

Check out David Parfitt's Website. It is an excellent resource, and has very useful diagrams to help you string your oud.
Good luck,
Mike
