Ouch,

I hope you get better soon my man. Take care of yourself, do what the doctors say, and soon enough you'll be playing again.

In the meantime, listen to as much oud as you can. You'll still be learning, even though you can't play right away. A few years ago I hurt my hand pretty badly too, I know how you feel.

Take care buddy,

mavrothis

:( I am sooo sorry for hearing all this...... May God help you on going through this.... and... As long you love the oud, you will be fine, don't worry you won't forget anything as long as you love it.

Dear friend,
I am sorry for your problem.
I hope that after the cure you will be the same as good you were before the accident.:)
Best Regards and God be with you on this

Sorry to hear of your accident...

I went through a very similar experience in the fall, although I went one step further and broke my entire wrist. All of the bones in my wrist on now held together with plates and screws. Total time for my wrist to get back to being usable was about 3 months, I would expect your thumb to be much quicker.

Follow your doctor's and physical therapist's advice and you will get back to nearly normal. The major thing is to start moving your thumb as soon as possible after your surgery (it will hurt though -- that is where the pain meds come in).

Good luck and stay on your feet!

Sammy,
Get well soon my man. No more kung fu martial arts for you after you heal though, please. :D
Take care,
