Hmm...
You can try McCabes Guitar shop in Santa Monica - they often have student grade ouds and possibly Saz or Ney and maybe the odd Spike Fiddle. Mostly
though the prices are relatively high for something that is mediocre in quality. Marina Music (Culver City, I believe) has a pretty good selection of
Greek instruments, Bouzouki, Tsoura, Baglama as well as some old Saz and some used Turkish ouds. Then there's Caremont Folk Music Center (in Claremont
of course) they have a small selection of Turkish ouds, Saz, Dumbeks and other percussion. They also have a sort of museum of instruments on the wall
that covers almost every conceivable type of stringed instrument, some are for sale though a lot may not be in playable condition. I saw an old qanun
there once.
All in all, there's not a lot available in a walk-in type store. You can definitely get higher quality instruments through the internet or directly
from builders - Viken Najarian is in Orange county!

Thanks Lee and oud_laud_luth_lute_liuto. Actually I am not looking for an oud as I have several. I had been to store in santa cruz as well as one in
San Francisco that sold an assortment of instruments. They had a lot of percussion, some nays, muzmars, rababas, etc. I was thinking that if they
have stores like that in those towns then they must have them in LA which is sooo much bigger. But I guess not. McCabes is not bad, but a little
overpriced as you mentioned, Lee. I will check out Marina Music. Thanks for the tip. For those of you interested, in Santa Cruz the store is called
Rhythm Fusion
