Ramadan Karim w'Mubarak and Shana Tova u'Metukah

John Erlich - 9-30-2005 at 11:34 AM

Just wanted to wish everyone a generous and blessed Ramadan (10/4 - 11/2/05) and good and sweet Rosh HaShana (Jewish New Year - 10/4-5/05).

For me, one of the highlights of the High Holy Days will be the evening Yom Kippur (Day of Atonment) evening service, which will be led in our (Conservative) congregation by the only female Moroccan Rabbi in the world. We will sing a half-dozen traditional Moroccan-Jewish piyyutim (hymns).

I will also be including in my prayers a Muslim prayer for healing for a Sufi Muslim-American friend living in Morocco (he is recovering from pneumonia).

All the best
