hi dear friends.
I'd like to know if some of you try to play or own a 7 course oud (like a Bashir model for instance).
Is there some advantages or inconvenients?

Hi. I've played several 7 course ouds (Arabic) and though it was a little strange at first, I think it offers a lot of advantages. If you can,
try any 7 string instrument you're interested in first, and then decide if you'd like to own one. They're great for long runs and
chords.
Take care,
mav

Hi Bruno,
What do you want to know about this 7 cours oud, I have 4 of them, they are great for concerts, you have 3 and a half octave on the oud may be 4 if
you can go up and down on the fingerboard.
salamat,

Hi
I try the 7 course before and find it very usefull adding up octave on playing the maqams plus unlimited bass pedal tone. You might find it abit weird
at first time trying this style of oud but will get use to it after a short while!

Hello fine people

Is there a photo of 7 course oud? I'd like to see one please. I am not sure what does it look like.
Thanks

Thank you Ronny for the pic.
It is important for me to get your own opinion about the seven course oud.
In the future i want to own a Bashir style oud from Yaroub and i dont know if to buy a six or seven course.
Actually i have a standart oud and i tune it:Fa,la,re,sol,do,fa.If i'll own a seven course, what do you think about that way of tune
o,Fa,la ,re ,sol,do,fa?
Your advise will be important to me.
My best regards.
Bruno.

Hi Bruno, the 7 course Bashir ouds I tried had the Iraqi tunings used in Tunis. Which is Sol re mi la re sol do. The Iraqi and Tunisian player I met
used a higher pitch than what I use.
But this tuning is off course not necessary and is more wise that you stop with the fa at the top and ad supplementary pedal strings like you
mentioned. The 7 course Bashir by Yaroub is very powerful and with surprisingly strong top register.
