Congratulations David. The oud looks beautiful. I hope you are as satisfied with yours as I am of mine. It would be interesting at some point to post some sound clips of all of the Shehata ouds, including Farouk's, and hear the differences in sound.

Peace Profound,
Roy

Thanx everyone! Zulkarnain,Belive me I'm enjoing! I'm glad you like the pickgaurd Mav, I wanted it to be different from everyone elses:cool: Sydney I dont know if its appropriate for me to discuss prices but you can always contact Yehia, hope you understand:) And Journeyman I think that would be a great idea, just let me get some more practice hours in.
Thanx again to everyone!

Hi David

When you told Yehia that you want something different from the rest, what exactly did you tell him?Does he gave you any sample or images?

Regards

Yo David. Congrats man. Very nice pick guard thingy....

Zulkarnain . . . Yehia is very very flexible. If you sent him some kind of specification by providing him a picture or whatever, I'm sure he'd give that information to Mourice. . . Yehia is truly awesome.

david - 4-7-2004 at 10:43 AM

Johns right Zulkarnain, These instruments are reflection of yourself and I think Mourice and Yehia know this. I actually wanted the same specs as Roy and Johns oud but with some diffrences. I asked to change the pickgaurd and I wanted to change the pattern around the roses but it was to late. But regardless it now looks like my oud and no one elses:xtreme: So thanx for the comments guys:applause:

Hello everyone. I know we are talking about Shihata ouds, but do you think we can also get recordings of the Eraydin ouds. This is so we can have good examples of Egyptian and Turkish ouds. In my openion, Haluk is like Shihata in Turkish ouds. I think we should have some recordings of the Eraydins representing the Turkish ouds, the Shihatas representing the Egyptian ouds, and a Yaroub or something to that extent for the Bashar ouds. Let me know what you think.

Hello David,

Can you inform please, what wood is on your oud as soundboard?

Haluk Eraydin

david - 4-8-2004 at 05:54 AM

Hi Haluk. The wood is unfinished spruce. But I think for my next oud I'll get cedar:D
