Hi All;
I've been trying to learn the oud for a long while now, but with no luck; I can't find an instructor to learn from. I've been baffling
around with the oud I have for the past 2-3 years and can make some music out of it (Abdelhalim, Umm Kulthoum, Farid, ...). But it just doesn't
sound right. I live in Philadelphia and I was wondering if anyone knows any instructor or somebody willing to teach in this area?
Also, what Oud should i purchase (for Arabic music, around $400 for now)?
thanx a bunch! a great website and great content!

Hi. I live about an hour and a half from you (Harrisburg), and if you like we can meet even just a few times to figure out exactly what you need to
get going in the direction you want with the oud. I'm sure you just need a little advice to get past whatever problems you're having.
Also, I was in Egypt recently, and aside from the oud I brought back for myself, I've also brought some beautiful ouds by Maurice F. Shehata for
sale, preferably to my students. There are some pics and an audio sample of one if you are interested. They are really very beautiful looking and
have great, unique tone.
Just click the email button below if you'd like to get in touch.
Sincerely,
mavrothis kontanis

Hey Mavrothis;
This is real good news. Thank you for your offer. I'll take you on it. So I'll email you.
and i am interested in viewing your oud pics and sample audio file.
My oud has been purchased for me from Syria(?), but i have no idea of its quality or wood type.
thanx again!
