old turkish (probably armenian) oud

Dr. Oud - 5-8-2008 at 11:07 AM

I can tell you it is a very well made oud and well worth a professional restoration. To identify it, take a picture(s) of the label - put your camera lens right against the bog rose and illuminate the inside with a light through one of the small roses until you can see th label or a portion of it. Take enough pictures to show all the writing and post it and somebosy will translate it for you.

3 - numero 368

4 - 1893 [can't read]

This will indeed be done, professional oud restorer will do it, the person who will be doing this job has not been chosen yet.

If it pleases you, you can put some of this oud's pictures on your website in order to expand your armenian oud database; it would surely be my pleasure to provide you with some pictures.

Yes, chaldo. That would be great. I actually sent you a u2u. I would desperately love some pictures of it.
That is a beautiful instrument, and I really hope you send it to somebody that can do a nice conservative restoration on it. The fingerboard, in particular, looks stunning.

Thank you very, very much.
