Hi you guys,
I bought an Iraqi-style oud last year, made by Zaher Khalefa from Damascus, Syria.
The oud's primarily made from walnut, but I just realised today I had no idea what wood the top was made from!
I was kind of hoping maybe someone could tell from the photos I took, and if not, how does one recognize the different woods? Also, am I correct in
saying that spruce needs more time to mature than cedar?
Thanks guys
More pics for your enjoyment :) (and my showing off)

While I have not much experience with woods, I must say that this is one good looking oud!!
I didn't know they make ouds with this superb quality in Syria!!
