Calculating the strip sizes (form)?

Yaron Naor - 3-14-2009 at 11:52 PM

I have a plan of a turkish oud, and would like to build one.
How can I sketch the strip (I want 19 strips)?
can any one help?
Thanks!
Yaron.

Take a look at the jig in the thread "Old Oud - New Project" in the Oud Project Forum. This is one way to obtain a rib pattern to use as a guide for cutting the rib profiles - assuming that the bowl is semi circular in section. The ribs are cut oversize to the pattern and the final accurate fitting is done with a jointer plane and/or a sanding board. You can see how this is done by checking previous posts on making ouds by Jameel, Richard (The Doc) Hankey and others.

Thanks, I am ok now! I will publush the images when I start
