I find that no matter how many I make, you know, a long time with sandpaper, no matter how many I make, I only have about 4. The others vanish. I
think they go to the same place that eats the socks, so there are always unmatched pairs of socks. I tried all sorts of tricks, my pile of blanks
slowly diminishes, and at times it seems I'm looking at 6 or more, but then when I sit down to play, I always only have 4, and only one good one! My
favorite is always missing. By the time I find it, I count, and again, it's only 4 total.
I know I had a white one with a Sukar logo on it -- disappeared long ago, too.
So will there come a day when they all emerge at once, like a resurrection, or will we have to buy another set of blanks, and continue to have no more
than 4? Is this like a law of the oud universe, or am I just losing my mind?

p.s. Off topic. Does anyone else have a dog?

the same mysterious dissapearances occur in my house too - and not only rishas for oud: picks for guitar, saz, bouzouki - they all magically wander
off or something! They do, sometimes, appear again, usually under very suspicious circumstances...

Knock on wood (but don't knock too hard, so you brake your oud like I did), I never lost a pick! NEVER!
I still even have the one I used when I was 11!
So I have soooo many of them, all sorts of brands and colores hand made or bought....
BUT, a BIG BUT, the one and only one that was PERFICT for me, that one I LOST!!!!!! a month ago
I am surely passing through bad time here...
How bad can it get?

I recently move in the new house I bought.
And I found back a guitar pick that I lost about 25 years ago !
I think I bought it more than 30 years ago.
(A lot of souvenirs of my rock star period
)
A risha is like a boomerang.
It always comes back.
Sometimes have to wait a lot.

I used to leave my cumbus leaning against a wall with the plectrum threaded tightly through the strings at the nut. My cat Zeke (see my site for a
photo) thought plectrums were WONDERFUL cat toys and every so often there would be an unmistakable loud BONG as he yanked it out with his teeth. I
would usually find it a few weeks later, curled up and perforated with little toothmarks.

Dear Luttgutt ,
Look in your driveway -- that's the only place I've found the two favorite pick's I've lost -- one in my driveway, one in my friends driveway. The
other ones -- they're gone
Best of luck,
PaulO
