Middle Eastern music convention USA
I remember seeing something about a conference/convention that happens annually in the States that is for people who are interested in learning
various Middle Eastern instruments such as the oud. If i remember correctly, one didn't have to be proficient in their instrument or even close,
it was open to anyone interested in learning. Does anyone have any info regarding this camp/convention/conference?

You may be thinking of Simon Shaheen's Arabic Music Retreat, which happens in august (around the 14th this year, I think). There's also the
Mendocino camp, I don't know the exact name of it.
Info on Simon's retreat is available on his website, simon-shaheen.com. I think it may be too late to apply for this year, though.

Thanks for the onfo. Brian. I looked up the Mendocino county camp and it looks interesting and is a bit cheaper in price too. has anyone here gone to
this music camp before and how is it?
