Cairo ?
I am planning to go to Cairo next Thursday. That would be my first time there. I would like to visit Al-Aseel shop and also Fathi Ameen shop. Can any
body give me the addresses to these places and any other oud shops that I should go to? What is the easiest way to get there?
What is the price range for a good oud from Al-Aseel?
I am really looking forward to this trip, so any advice on ouds or any other thing that I should know about Cairo would be highly appreciated.
I am sorry that this topic is not oud related, but it’s the only place that I can get good advice from.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Hisham

You can find the address to Al-Aseel shop on the My ouds section of Mikes
website. As for the others I figure once you go to Murices shop he can tell you where the other ones are.

Thank you David I got the address. But what I am worried about is to ask the people at the aseel shop where to find other oud makers, especially Fathi
Ameen who in my opinion is the main competitor of Mr. Shehata.
It is just like saying "okay, I saw what you got, now can you tell me where to find other ouds"
I don’t know, may be it a normal thing considering that we are tourists and all that, but if I hade an oud shop and someone came and asked me how to
get to my competitor shop, I guess I won’t be happy about that.

Hey Hisham,
I have Mr. Amin's phone number, but I will have to get it to you when I get home. His place is MUCH harder to find by the way. His ouds are a
little more expensive than Shehata ouds, but also beware of fakes too. His least expensive oud is around 4 or 5 hundred USD in Egypt. Is it worth
that? Absolutely. But if you come accross any that are cheaper than that, then it's more than likely a fake not a real Amin oud.
Take care,
Mike

Hi Mike
I allready have an Oud by Amin and it is amazing . I want to go there just to see the guy and look at his other Ouds and ask him a few questions. But

Hey Hisham,
That's awesome. Can you attach photos of your Amin oud? I'd love to see it. Also, it is well worth the effort to find this fine man. You
know he was a pupil of the great oudmaker, Gamil Georges. He along with Mr. Farouk Shehata both came out of his shop on Mohamad Ali Street. I also
suggest you go meet George Gamil Georges too at the historic shop. It's been there since around 1918. Look for an email later on today with Mr.
Amin's details.
Take care,
Mike
