Savarez Instruments Anciennes Strings
Hello,
does anybody here have experience or comments on
Savarez Strings for Old Instruments (Instruments Ancienes) (copper silverplated on nylon)
They are one of the first choices for non gut players on european lutes, so maybe they are good for lute, too?
Appreciate your comments
best wishes
Robert
This is how the package looks ...

Hi Robert,
Adel Salameh is using Savarez strings (but not the silverplated ones I think).
Following his advice, I've tried them (the copper wound ones) and they are indeed excellent. They have a very nice warm sound and are easy to play
(since they're thinner than the corresponding Aquilas). There are enough gauges available to get exactly the tension you need.
I never tried the nylons however, I prefer nylguts for the trebles (a good match with the Savarez copper wounds).
best regards,
Dan

Hi Dan, thanks for your fast response. Could you please give me a clue as to the gauges for the standard arabic oud tuning?

Hello Dan, BTW, where do you get the copper wound ones?
I could find silverplated but didn't see a shop with the copper wound ... Quote: Originally posted by Danielo | Please have a look at this excellent tool

Yes these strings are very good. I used them for a while as I did Pyramid custom, Aquilla, La bella, Mari and D'dario.
They are classy smooth and clear.
Funny though, how this is not for me and I'm back where I started, with Pyramid Orange label Arabic oud set.
These are for me the best 'oud' strings.
Give Savarez a try they may be right for you.
Best Wishes, Charlie
