Where are the best places to buy a oud from in cairo?
I know Maurice shehata - just wondering if there was anywhere else I shuold check when over there?

I am not sure what the ranges are...
What is available for 500LE?
1000LE?
I have been playing for two years and am of reasonable standard. Something that is no frills - no need for nice designs/special marbling etc. Just
good sound quality or whatever I should be looking for.
Any advice on where to go and what to look for would be great .

If you go to Marco on Mohammed Ali street, he can give you a good sounding oud for 800LE.

my experience was pretty much that. 800 is enough... next is a major quality jump.
but you never know.....
