Recording with iPhone
I have fooled around with iPhone 4s and the plugin mic Tascam iM2X, both (r), and found it quite good for a gadget you are carying with you anyway
(the mic is tiny, not much extra to cary).

I have and use a Blue "Mikey" and it is an excellent condenser mic. I record live gigs with it and the results are astounding.
