NEW OUD By Shehata
This is my new oud. M.F.Shehata made this oud. I sent several photographs of Nahat oud to Mr. Shehata, combined the parts of my favorite Nahat oud,
and completed.

Congratulations Tsugumi. I have also ordered an oud similar to this one through Yehia at the Nile Shop. The back and the rosette will be different on
mine though. I think that the picture of the Nahat made in Brazil was used as a model, am I correct? Please e mail me and let me know how it sounds.
It looks simply wonderful. A real treasure!
All the best,
Roy

Alf Mabrouk Tsugumi.
It looks to be a very beautiful new instrument. I think there are probably a few of us who are quite jealous right now.
How does it sound in comparison to a real Nahat or to the other Syrian ouds that you play?
Regards,
Greg

I would really like a new oud from the levant area(Syria, Lebanon, Palestine) but do not know which to choose. I am really interested in purchasing a
shehata but was sceptical about his ability to use syrian dimensions. Based on the last couple ouds posted, it seems I shouldn't doubt a good
maker.
But I would like to ask the forum does anyone know what the measurements are on syrian vs egyptian ouds. I know egyptian ouds are slightly bigger but
what are there numerical dimensions when sized up against each other?
And in regards to sound it seems to me Egyptians are deeper than Syrians. I think im interested in a lighter sound like those found in old classical
recordings.
Are these Nahat based Shehata's using egyptian dimensions or syrian.
Also Tsugumi I'd like your insight and how u came with this design and what are the materials used in making these.
Thanks guys,
Rami

Thanks all.
Yehia of Nile Shop did a lot of cooperation so that I might obtain this oud.
I describe gratitude to Maurice and Yehia.
I compared this oud with Fathi Amin and Khalife oud that I owned. I feel that the sound of this Maurice's oud is not the same as the sound of
which those Amin and Khlife oud.
I have another Maurice's three ouds, and the sound different from any of those ouds.
I like a peculiar sound of this oud very much.
Yehia of Nile Shop knows details of this oud better than me. I think that you should ask Yehia the question on this oud.

I show the message (about Rosetta) from Yehia of Nile Shop.
"Here is the enlargement for the rossete
it says in arabic ,in the center Morrice Farouk,
and out side Egypt ,EL Aseel (the name of Morrice shop) ,Cairo ,1964 ( the
year that Morrice Father Mr Farouk opened the shop)."
