Thanks Jaber. My favorite sounding oud is the ebony oud with yellow streaks. The oud that was a gift from Adel Salameh is also an excellent oud. I can
look at the inlaid oud all day long if I was forced too, and it doesn't sound bad for an inlaid oud either.

Take care,
Mike

If I may, Mike, I'd like to just pick a favorite as well. One of the best sounding ouds I've ever heard to date has got to be the one that Mike
mentions as his favorite sounding, the ebony with yellow streaks. I have yet to hear an oud that sounds like this again. It's purely a provoker of
tarab, it's like you can't go wrong with it.
I haven't heard the one Adel Salameh gave you, Mike, but I'm sure it sounds great as well.
The inlaid has a shockingly good sound for an inlaid oud. You pick it up, it's heavy... but man, you start playing, and the sound of it is great.
You have quite the collection, Mike. I hope you're doing well, too, and I'm glad the forum is back up.
Take care,
TP21

mike, u mentioned somthing intersting, the sound quality of the inlaid ouds, are these ouds sound bad, i head that most of these ouds just
good-looking ouds, and the sound quality is not matching the look of the oud..

Hi Jaber,
For the most part, yes, an inlaid oud is more for looks. But if the person making it knows what they're doing, they can turn out nice looking and
sounding. Look at Farido's oud he mostly played for the last years of his life. It was all decked out in mother of pearl, yet it sounded fantastic!
Take care,
Mike
