Article about Fathi Amin & Egyptians Ouds from Al-Ahram
Hi everyone,
I am sure that many of you have read this article that was in the english weekly version of Al-Ahram. The article is 3 or 4 years old. I think you
will enjoy it because the interviewer talks with Fathi Amin and he sheds some light on the current state of affairs in the oud making world. But what
I found most important was the discussion of how in Egypt the craft of oud making is dying because of less demand and that the makers do not keep up
with technology (websites, etc) as do the Turks. But now in 2005, I think the situation is different. And I think one of the big reasons it is
different, specifically with regards to Egyptian ouds, is because of MIKE'S WEBSITE. So bravo Mike. Alf mabrouk. Thanks for helping to put egyptian
ouds back on the map and pushing people like Maurice Shehata into the spotlight.

Mike... this website is not merely a wonderful resource for Oud information ... this website marks a pivotal occassion in Oud history . . .
