Floating bridge replacement
Hey guys.
I have oud with floating bridge and wanna replace it.
The bridge has minor cracks and seems like it causes some strings buzzing.
The problem is I cant find ane floating bridges for sale with international shipping.
I already ordered blank ebony wood, to try to make bridge by myself.
But maybe you can tell me where I can buy ready-to-use floating bridges?

More questions about floating bridge.
I got my new bridge, which is made of rosewood.
Also I wanna experiment with ebony and now I try to make bridge of ebony.
I made it a bit longer and a bit thicker than rosewood one.
Tone is totally different - more low end, more boomy, more body, but less sparkling and not so much presence as rosewood bridge has.
So now I wanna bring ebony bridge tone closer to rosewood one. Add more crispeness and presence but without loosing much of a low end.
What should I try to do? Make it shorter or make it narrower?

I was in contact with Dr. Oud a long time ago when I talked to him about different bridge models and wood options. I don't remember everything but he
made a new bridge for my Fawzy Munshed oud. The original was in rosewood but the new one was pearwood with a bone edge. My last oud was made by Béla
Kökény and it had a rosewood bridge but I had Yaron Naor make a new one in pearwood with a bone edge.Pear wood and softer woods were used during the
Renaissance for lutes. The photo shows these two ouds with the new bridges installed and the originals lying next to them.

Ronny - nice to see you posting here! Question: have you noticed a major difference by going from rosewood to pear?
