New oud book from old website
Hi everyone!
Some of you may remember the oud website that I started in 2001 and maintained until 2018, when I could no longer devote the time to keeping it
updated. A number of people have asked me over the years if I could make the theory section of the site, which included scales and fingering charts,
available in printed form. It’s taken a while, but I’m pleased to announce that I have compiled everything into a book, “The Oud Handbook”,
which is now available on Amazon. Here is the link to the book on the US site:
https://www.amazon.com/Oud-Handbook-David-Parfitt/dp/B0FWYJJ7L2/
but it’s also available from Amazon in the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland
and Japan.
The book is paperback, around 230 pages, and covers both the Arab and Turkish styles of oud playing. I have attached some sample pages from the book
below to give some idea of the content. As you can hopefully tell, it’s intended to be a comprehensive reference book for the beginner or more
advanced student, rather than an oud method, as there are already several excellent ones of those available.
I really hope people find it useful, and if so, I would be very grateful if you could let your friends, students, and anyone else that might be
interested know about it too. If you do buy a copy, I would appreciate if you could leave some feedback on Amazon.
Many thanks
David

Just a heads up that Amazon.com is currently offering a 5% discount on the book for some reason, in case that tempts anyone!
