So, it is an iraqui oud made 25 years ago!
The man who sold it to me said it was Syrian (?)
Thank you very much, Mourad!

hi jazzchiss
it seams to me that it is a nice instrument no metter where it comes from
as i looked on the lable again i saw it is posible
that the maker is called mouhamad fadel "AL- HUSSAIN" not al-hassin
like i wrote before
you should check out ronny andersons website http://www.iraqi-oud.com/
they have pictures of some ouds made by mouhamad fadel maybe he is the same person who built yours
and it seams that ronny is the man to be asked for iraqi ouds here
take care

Nice photos and website Jazzchiss. Ronny is the man to ask but from my own '92 Fadel and Ronny's old standard Fadel from '77 and having seen the
labels used I would say there is great doubt that this oud was made by Mohammed Fadel. From the side view it doesn't look Syrian either and looks
more like an Iraqi oud. How does it sound and play? Enjoy it

My friends:
I have no doubt that this is not a quality instrument. It looks better in the photo than in the reality: it is painted black; there is no ebony at
all. I must lose a lot of time every day to tune it, and that is the raison why I am looking for another oud, with ebony pegs.
Definitely, the maker cannot be the same Fadel from iraqui-oud.com. The construction of mine is quite rough and was sell to me for 100 €.
It does not sounds bad (when I manage to tune it) but I am not a professional musician; I only like to improvise while I listen to Arab or Indian
music, nothing to be presented in public.
Regards.

This oud is not an orginal Fadel oud.
Best wishes

I remember this model
I used to see the same exact oud model, allegedly made by M. Hussain according to the seller, in the Festival of Syrian Products that is held in Doha
every year.
The seller swears its made by M. Fadel Hussain, despite its unusual low price (100 dollars).
In the same festival, they managed to sell a fake M. Fadel Hussain oud to my aunt for 250 dollars, after starting at 350 dollars. He gave her a
"special" price because "it was his last oud". Now she proudly owns a Fadel Oud that has absolutely no sound and does not hold it tune at all.
My friend in the USA owns one of these Syrian-made Mohammed Fadel ouds (Go figure). I didn't want to break his heart, so I kept it to myself.

So, it is really a Syrian oud that tries to pass by a Fadel. The label with the direction of Baghdad is deceptive, therefore.
In any case, the price that I paid seems to me quite right, even low, and it has a powerful sound in the graves notes.
Respect to the tuning difficulties, lately I waxed the pegs and it has become stabilized enough. I believe that cannot be requested more to a €100
oud.
