Why NOT to become a gangster! NON - OUD RELATED

As some of you may or may not know, I am a high school teacher who works mainly with "at risk" kids in a continuation high school. Many of my students are gang members, kids involved in drugs or some sort of negative behavior. Anyway, I came accross this video on YouTube, and I think I will be showing it to some of my kids. I don't condone violence, and never will, but there is an excellent life lesson to be learned here from this video. Mainly, if you are a "tough" gang member who weighs maybe 105 or 110 pounds dripping wet, you might want to stay away from a skinny white kid who knows Kung Fu!

WARNING: This video contains vulgar language and ONE second of violence.

I don't think Frankie will be messing with this guy anymore.

Hi Mike, tough job indeed to be a teacher. Maybe you should play them a taqasim at the beginning of each lesson so that they will get to be smoother?

Mike- hey man I noticed your posting was at 4:38 AM! I didn't know you were a high school teacher my friend, but I can relate to the stress and responsibilites of the job- I was a teacher for a short time myself over here, but couldn't get a handle on classroom control and quit after one term! How do you do it Mike? Benjamin must be right- I'm sure you take your oud in to class and play them a few taqasims to mellow them down a bit?

Hey guys,

It isn't as bad as it sounds really. Ultimately kids are kids. I work with two other strong teachers, and the kids pretty much know who runs the show. Our motto is, "Who can be more obnoxious, us or them?" The kids think they are "crazy". ;)

I've brought my oud in before. I've also had music workshops where Wael Kakish and a few members of K.Z. came in and played music for the kids. They liked the percussions especially, and even learned some basic rythyms.

Anyways, we've had our share of "Frankies" throughout the years. That's for sure. That's why this video was pretty amusing to me.

Take care,
Mike

The guy in the red shirt is not skinny, to start with. In the beginning you see his hand pointing straight up, bent at the wrist? That's advanced stuff. Doing a few moves to let someone know what they're in for if they continue can be risky, especially if you can't back it up. Red shirt backed it up pretty well. But in some states when you do that stuff and you hit someone and hurt them you can be considered a deadly weapon and it's a felony, it's not just a street fight and you go to jail.

People who really study martial arts develope the ability to slow an opponent's moves down mentally, to see more frames per second. For Red Shirt it looked easy because it was. Some street fighters are naturally fast. Red shirt took a chance and pulled it off. Sometimes when you set out to entertain onlookers it can go the other way you become the entertainment. Pretty good video.
