attention all luthiers!
in your opinion, what would be a good stringed instrument to build for a beginner with little woodworking experience? i've attempted a gourd banjo and
i built a bowed psaltery, so something around that difficulty level would be good.
i dont think im ready to build an oud yet

hey buddy, how about a grand piano? Seriously though, have you ever looked
into those 'Early Music' stores that sell replica kits for old time stringed and non-stringed instruments , like for lute , viheula, guitar, recorder
an so on? These kits are well made and still present you with a challenge.

yeah if i find one at a good price ill consider a kit. I don't have very many tools and the only wood i can get is at the local hardware shop.

Hey Richard: The Stewart MacDonald catalogue for me is better than Playboy. Checked out the new one lately? I want some of that sticky-backed mylar
sandpaper!! Boy howdy!! The A style mandolin kit is a winner. Get one of their plectrum banjo necks with no frets drill it out for 8 strings and put
that sucker right on there...................some tied frets and there you just do go. A Bozoukalinola.
