yeah, nice way to go from maqam Pink Panther into that improv! I might try it with the theme from 'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly'....and here's a sneak preview: ;)

Yes, it was done with al di meola, paco de lucia and John Mc Laughlin (not sure about this one) in the live concert Friday Night in San Francisco (or in california?). The pink panther theme idea is so often used! It is an immortal theme. I find it overall a good CD though boring somehow.

All right Oud freak in a Short Tales of the black Forest of Chick Corea, played by McLaughlin and Al di Meola only.I have done a mistake, this track is the only one without Paco DeLucia!

That's the interesting thing about this video....

It starts with a cool pink the panther theme and somehow makes the uneasy transition to the world of the improvised maqam.
