In america you own the copyright the second the work is produced. Technically, no further action is needed.

Jason, you're right, one's work is copyrighted the second it's recorded or jotted down... That probably won't help you much in court, luckily there's the US Copyright Office. But, charlie, unless you expect to get some serious airplay, I wouldn't worry too much about copyrights.

By the way, if you need legal advice drop me a line ;) My hourly rates are quite reasonable. I also accept payments in ouds.
