Seeking Diagrams of Turkish Makam
Hi,
I don`t read music, and play by ear. I`ve a band here in Chile, called "Selam". We play Turkish gypsy, sufi, classical, asik, etc. I would like to
fortify and learn makam better, but need the diagrams that show the positions on the neck. (similar to what Ouf Prof had in his book), but Turkish
positions. I can play a Bayati (arabic position), but that isn`t what I need.
Anyone know of a site or book that has it? The Mutlu Torun book is only for readers.
thanks,
Ren

Hello Renato, I am like you but, I am only starting to learn to read music as after all these years of developing a finely tuned !! ear it seems it
would be a useful skill to take on now. Try http://www.oud.eclipse.co.uk/, this is a superb and very clear site by David Parfitt and look at music theory - Turkish maklamar. There are some
really useful diagrams but I would say don't stop listening (as if you would )
