Mother of Pearl and Oud sound.
The other day, somewhere on these forums I saw a post saying that too much mother of pearl can ruin the sound of an Oud. Is it true? For example, when
you see an Oud like the picture I uploaded, is it just to attract tourists? The Oud on 'My Ouds' section showing Mike's Oud, one of them, made by
Shehata is COVERED in mother of pearl! Surely if it's made by such a good maker, and bought by such a good player, the sound will be good?
So does mother of pearl make any difference to sound at all?
